Chisinau-based national theatre informs about more premieres in new theatrical season

Chisinau, 12 September /MOLDPRES/ - More premieres will take place at the 29th theatrical season of the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre, due to start on 4 October.  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the theatre’s deputy director, Victoria Cazacu, said that a real surprise for the audience would be the musical Ciuleandra by Liviu Rebreanu.  

According to Cazacu, the same thing refers to the plays, Năpasta (The Plague) by Ion Luca Caragiale and Moliere by Mikhail Bulgakov.   

”At present, the theatre’s staff intensely works for the future premiere of The Government Inspector by Nikolay Gogol, planned for next December, as well as for the play, What charms my wife has made? by Yohn Tobias, the first performance of which will take place in next October. Another premiere is a play titled, Good Morning, Daddy! by Jean Poirret – a foamy comedy, quite successful for the audience, will be staged in October as well. In next spring, Satiricus will have a sensational premiere with the play, Scenes from the Life of Meyerhold, by Matei Visniec, Victoria Cazacu noted.        

More plays of the theatre’s repertoire will be re-brought to stage: Hamlet by Shakespeare, The Wedding by Anton Chekhov, Employment of Clown by Matei Visniec, A Lost Letter, Only During A Carnival, A Stormy Night by I.L. Caragiale and many others.    

According to Victoria Cazacu, this autumn proved to be fruitful also in terms of tours abroad and participation in diverse international and national festivals. Thus, till the New Year, the troupe will move abroad at list five times.  

On the period 17-19 September, Satiricus will participate in the Drama Festival of Contemporary Theatre from Odorheiu Secuiesc, Harghita county, Romania, with a play titled, Migraaaanți sau prea suntem mulți pe nenorocita asta de barcă (Migrants or There are Too Many of Us on This Wrecked Boat) by Matei Visniec. On 8-10 October – at the International Theatre Festival from Tulcea, Romania, with the play, Happy End, by Jeroen Den Berg. On immediately next days, the troupe will perform at the National Comedy Festival from Galati with the play, Women’s Doctor by Georges Feydeau.       

The theatre is also invited to participate in the International Shakespeare Theatre Festival from Yerevan with the play Hamlet and at the International Festival of Studio Theatre and New Shapes from Pitesti, with a play titled, 100 Minutes of Freedom by Bogdan Saratean. In December 2019, the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre will have a micro-staging in Bucharest. At the same time, in next April, a traditional exchange of micro-stagings will take place with the State Jewish Theatre from Bucharest, led by Maia Morgenstern, first in Chisinau (ten plays) and then in May, Satiricus will perform in Bucharest with the same number of plays.  Also in 2020, till the end of the theatrical season, Satiricus will participate in another five festivals, to which the troupe is constantly invited.
