Granite staircase inaugurated in Chisinau – based park after reconstruction

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ – The granite staircase in park Valea Morilor has been inaugurated, on Tuesday, 17 September, after reconstruction. The works have lasted over one year and they were carried out with financial support of Bucharest.

The reconstruction of it began in May 2018 and consisted of rehabilitation of the foundation and support walls of 232 steps, arrangement of 04 secondary access roads to the stairs, as well as installation of LED – based lighting throughout construction.

The rehabilitation of granite stairs was made possible by a grant of almost €920,000 offered by the Local Council of Sector 1, Bucharest municipality. Also, the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) has allocated the amount of MDL 3.5 mln, additionally, for a series of works related to construction. An additional sum of MDL 05 mln was allocated from the local budget (BL) for renovation of the School dedicated to the passed away heroes of the Ministry of Internal affairs (MAI), an objective located near the granite staircase.

There have been present more officials at the opening of the staircase, including from Romania. The Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, Daniel Ionita, has said that this accomplishment complements the multiple projects carried out in Moldova with the support of Romania. “The relations between Moldova and Romania are special, based upon a community of language, history, culture and traditions. They are based on the partnership for European integration of Moldova. By means of everything we do, we want to bring a bit of Europe to you," said the diplomat.

The mayor of sector 1 of Bucharest municipality, Dan Tudorache, has also attended the event, and he was satisfied with the carried out works. “We wanted to show that we, those from Bucharest, those from Romania, support our brothers in Chisinau. There were few who believed in this project. We hope to continue to support similar projects,” said Dan Tudorache.

The acting mayor of Chisinau municipality, Adrian Talmaci, has thanked the City Hall of Sector 1 Bucharest for the financial support granted and expressed hope that the stairs in park Valea Morilor will become a place where the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality will spend as many beautiful moments as possible.

The inhabitants of Chisinau municipality present at the inauguration of the Stairs have appreciated the carried out works.
