Winners of contest: Polobocul de Aur 2019 awarded at National Wine Day in Moldova

Chisinau, 06 October /MOLDPRES/ – The households that produced the best homemade wines were awarded a 100 – litre barrel. The winners of contest: Polobocul de Aur were announced at the National Wine Day, which continued on Sunday, 06 October, in the centre of Chisinau municipality.

The competition reached this year its 17th issue, where competed about 500 homemade wines, and 101 have reached the republican stage.

The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sergiu Harea, has mentioned that from year to year, more and more winemakers are participating in this competition. Thus, during XVIIth issues, there were presented almost 8,500 wine samples, of which over 170 were awarded. The wines presented at the competition are appreciated by professional tasters, and there are awarded the most renowned producers of homemade wine.

Thus, according to the results of the competition, from technical varieties, the best white wine was produced by Simion Plugaru from Bardar, Ialoveni, and for the best red wine was awarded Valeriu Popa from Susleni, Orhei.

At nomination: Wine from hybrid varieties, the prize for the best white wine reached Vasilii Niagov from Chirsovo, Comrat, and the prize for the best red wine was obtained by Petr Arnaut from village Cioc – Maidan, Comrat.

The winner of nomination: Domestic wine aged at least 12 months became Sergiu Gherghelegiu from Hagimus, Causeni. Cristina Pohilenco from Causeni city was awarded for the best dessert white wine. Also, the best dessert red wine was produced by Ion Nicolenco from Causeni. The prize for the best rosé wine came to Igor Dontu from Causeni.

The wine contest: Polobocul de Aur was organised for the first time in 2002.
