Moldovan president on working visit to Gagauzia

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon paid a working visit to Gagauzia on 14 October, and had a meeting with governor Irina Vlah and head of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Vladimir Kissa, the presidential press service has reported.

Officials discussed several issues on the development of autonomy. The sides noted the successful implementation of social and humanitarian projects of major importance, analyzed the plans for the development of the region in the future.

They considered the actions on preparation for marking the 25th anniversary of adoption by the Moldovan parliament of the law on special legal status of Gagauzia. Also, they discussed the adoption by the Moldovan parliament of three bills on Gagauzia, aimed to harmonize the republican and regional legislation.

In this context, Irina Vlah came up with the proposal to convene a meeting of the working group made up of members of the Moldovan parliament and of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia. Dodon informed Irina Vlah that at the next meeting of the legislature, the parliamentary faction of the Socialist Party will launch the initiative on the adoption of the respective law package.

The head of state visited Cismichioi village, including the kindergarten built with the support of President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulî Berdîmuhamedov. Also, Dodon visited the local church and met with villagers.

At the end of the day, the president visited Vulcanesti city, which on Monday marked the Dedication Day. In this context, he offered to the local church some religious objects.
