16 candidates admitted to contest for prosecutor general's position

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Justice announced that following the evaluation of the applications for the contest to the position of Prosecutor General, 16 candidates out of the 20 who applied for this position have been admitted to the race.

According to the decision of the Commission for the selection of candidates for the position of prosecutor general, the competition will include 2 stages: psychological testing and interview. The psychological test aims to evaluate the candidates’ personal qualities required by the job requirements. The testing will take place at the B.P.Hasdeu Library on 25 October.

The candidates admitted to the interview will be heard during on 28-29 October, divided into two groups. The interview will take place within the Ministry of Justice.

According to the information provided by the ministry, Vladimir Adam, Tudor Andronic, Eduard Bulat, Ruslan Cașu, Oleg Crîșmaru, Ștefan Gligor, Vladislav Gribincea, Maxim Gropa, Anatolie Istrate, Vsevolod Ivanov, Gheorghe Malic, Serghei Perju, Ruslan Popov, , Alexandru Rața, Veaceslav Soltan and Alexandr Stoianoglo were recorded in the competition.

The competition was announced by the Justice Ministry on 30 September, the deadline for applications is 20 October.

According to the new amendments to the legislation, a special commission will select at least two candidates and will submit to the Superior Council of Prosecutors. The CSP will select one candidate and will submit to the president for appointment.

Justice Minister Olesea Stamati has previously announced that the commission will comprise seven people such as -  Raisa Botezatu - former judge, James Hamilton - international expert in the prosecution, Sergiu Baieșu - university professor, Moldova State University, Igor Botan - executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy, representative of civil society, Dumitru Postovan - national expert appointed by the speaker, Tatiana Buianina - psychologist, member without the right to vote. The Minister of Justice will also be part of the commission.
