Chisinau mayor-elect says to suspend capacity of Party of Socialists' member

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau mayor-elect, Ion Ceban, told a today’s news conference that he would suspend the capacity of member of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), immediately after his mandate is validated. Ceban reiterated also the offer for the councilors of the ACUM bloc and voiced confidence about the viability of a coalition with the ACUM councilors locally.
Ion Ceban reconfirmed that he would suggest to those from ACUM two offices of deputy mayor and at least two positions of praetor. Ceban showed convinced that, if a majority is created locally and with the support of the government coalition, amendments might be made to the legislation in force, so that the head of the Chisinau Municipal Council is a permanent office.
„PSRM has 22 mandates and ACUM – 19; all of us know the capital’s problems and the responsibilities we have. We propose them to divide these responsibilities equally. Obviously, I am open for cooperation with all councilors who do not have integrity problems,” Ceban said.
The mayor-elect specified that he would be a mayor of everybody and would fulfill all promises made in the electoral campaign. “The earlier announced priorities remain in force. I suggest a serious agenda which deals with the fight against corruption at the city hall,” Ceban added.
Following the 3 November elections, Ion Ceban was elected mayor of Chisinau. More than 52 per cent of the city’s residents voted for Ceban, while the other about 47 per cent of the residents - for the candidate of the ACUM bloc, Andrei Nastase.
