Moldovans' overall wealth amount to 40 billion dollars

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - The overall wealth of the Moldovans amounts to almost 40 billion dollars, of which almost 65 per cent represent real estate, according to estimative data. More than a half of the Moldovans’ real estate wealth is concentrated in Chisinau, an economic commentator, Victor Ursu, has said at a programme titled, Fifteen minutes of economic realism.

At the same time, bank deposits amount to 3.7 billion dollars, followed by farmlands worth 3.4 billion dollars and share capital ends the list of the wealth – only 1.6 billion dollars. In terms of territorial aspects, the wealth of one Chisinau resident exceeds 34,000 dollars, which is almost five-fold more than of the residents from outside Chisinau, who have an average wealth of about 7,200 dollars, Victor Ursu also said.

The wealth of the Moldovans, just as the rest of the world’s population, is based, first of all, on dwellings, then on other uninhabitable constructions. “The investment in real estate remains up-to-date all over the world, not only in Moldova. As a rule, this fact is connected with the man’s need to ensure certain stability. A person who earned the money working hard and is not going to start a business, will not invest his/her money into another’s business, but in something perceptible and stable, i.e. in real estate. At present, we have no alternative; there are no other opportunities. We do not have working stock exchanges; there are no possibilities to buy stocks to earn by this way. Our citizens prefer to buy something palpable, which can be subsequently showed to other people,” the programme’s author also said.

Referring to the bank deposits, the journalist noted that, although the bank placements represent a part of the Moldovans’ wealth, they do not constitute an instrument which offers similar bonuses as the investments in real estate. Presently, the average rate of the term deposits is of 5.01 per cent, while the profit from the letting out of a real estate is double.

The farmlands and the investments in share capital are at the end of the ranking. The highest prices for farmlands are the ones around Chisinau, which can become construction grounds. This is the most wished hunt trophy of real estate speculators. At the same time, the share capital has the lowest level of investments on behalf of Moldovans. The reason is the capital market with reduced opportunities, as well as the lack of safety, as a result of the attacks of taking over shares of companies and banks, which took place several years ago.
