Moldovan government's work program made public

Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/- The work program of the Government led by Ion Chicu was made public on 21 November.

The program includes the period up to the presidential elections in autumn 2020 and reflects the government's vision for immediate action, "to restore the functionality of the central public administration".

"We will act quickly and decisively on the dimension of combating crime and increasing the security of citizens. The government will take all measures to increase the country's energy security level, preparing backup scenarios. Urgent measures will be taken to unblock the exports of agricultural products in the eastern direction ”, the program reads.

During its term of office, the government says that it will focus on a few priority areas and will aim to improve the quality of life of people. Thus, the executive aims in particular to increase the social assistance for the cold period of the year, to allocate a single financial support around the winter holidays for pensioners and beneficiaries of state social allowances, increase the salaries of the employees of the public medical-sanitary institutions and the restoration of the social programs cancelled by previous government, including “A doctor for you” program.

In the field of foreign policy, the new government aims to strengthen relations with the European Union and to comply with all international commitments, including the Association Agreement with the European Union and the documents signed within the CIS. According to the document, the government will promote a balanced foreign policy, strengthening the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova.

Regarding the justice reform, the document includes goals aimed at identifying an independent Prosecutor General, reorganizing the Superior Council of Magistracy, reviewing the role of the Supreme Court of Justice, creating a specialized first-instance anti-corruption court and creating anti-corruption panel within the Chisinau Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Justice.

Based on the priority directions included in the Program, the government will approve, within 30 days, a detailed Action Plan, with clear deadlines for implementation, quantifiable performance indicators, as well as institutions and officials responsible for implementing the actions.

The government led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu was sworn in on 14 November.
