Road employees use firstly non – slip material on streets of Chisinau municipality

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/ – The road employees carried out last night the first interventions with non – slip material on the streets of Chisinau municipality. The head of the Directorate of Public Transport and Communications, Adrian Boldurescu, has announced, on Monday, 25 November, that he has provided assurances that the municipal services are prepared with the necessary machines and materials for interventions during the cold period of year.

Thus, last night, nine special vehicles intervened on the streets of the capital, distributing 60 tonnes of non – slip material.

Adrian Boldurescu said that at present, at Exdrupo, there are 4,700 tonnes of non – slip material stored, consisting of a mixture of salt and sand. In addition, another 1,700 tonnes of salt are stored. At the same time, Boldurescu said that by 15 December, another 3,800 tonnes of salt and 3,200 tonnes of sand will be in stock.

"The mixture we have in stock reaches us by the end of January, depending on the amount of snowfall. Otherwise, we have no problems with the stocks of non – slip material. The special vehicles and mechanisms provided by Exdrupo are ready. The tires were changed and a total overhaul was performed on all the mechanisms”, said the head of Transport Department.

"I know that at present you have 48 units of intervention machines, while 125 are needed. I insist on having auctions and coopting from the private environment that can help us, we do not have situations that we cannot cover some works," said mayor Ion Ceban.

Regarding the cleaning of the sidewalks during the cold period of year, the head of the Housing – Communal Directorate, Ion Burdiumov, said that this season, for the first time, the sand will no longer be used to combat slippery roads. Thus, 123 tonnes of salt and 10 tonnes of non – slip material have already been deposited for these works, and another 770 tonnes are due to arrive in Chisinau in the next days.

"Compared to 2018, we have provided triple amount of salt and non – slip material. All equipment needed for intervention is prepared at residential services companies. Brushes and shovels were purchased. For the moment, we have 14 Hako – type machines ready to intervene and 32 tractors equipped with new brushes and shovels, including 10 new tractors”, said Burdiumov.
