Moldovan parliament speaker meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

Chisinau, 06 December /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, has met, on Friday, 06 December, with Deputy Assistant for European and Eurasian Affairs of U.S. Secretary of State, George Kent. The meeting has been attended by U.S. Ambassador Derek Hogan, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The parties have discussed extensively the most important topics in the current Moldovan – American dialogue, including Transnistrian issues, justice reform, relations with international financial organizations, and the priorities of the body of deputies at this stage.
Zinaida Greceanii has mentioned the interest of authorities in carrying out the undertaken internal reforms and commitments towards development partners, specifying that in this process Moldova needs important support of USA.
SP has also outlined that the legislative activity is currently marked by the adoption of Moldova's main financial document – state budget (BS) for 2020. It has been welcomed that on several projects adopted in interest of citizens, MPs from more factions manifest solidarity.
George Kent has mentioned that USA wants Moldova to be a prosperous, unitary state with strong democratic institutions.
The U.S. party has urged Moldovan authorities to continue the reforms, so that the changes for the better can be really felt by citizens.
