Moldovan cabinet members, district heads, mayors hold joint meeting at government

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a joint meeting of the cabinet members with the district heads and the mayors of the Chisinau and Balti cities. Attending the meeting were the PM’s advisers and the heads of some state agencies, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Ion Chicu congratulated the leaders of the newly elected local public administrations on the results achieved at the 20 October ballot.

„We are sure that the key of success is the efficient communication, a constructive and pragmatic dialogue between the cabinet and the local public authorities (APL). We have a technocrat government, so we do not regard the district heads through the light of the political orientation. The solving of the present problems at the level of district and, in general, on the country, matters for us,” Ion Chicu said.    

In the context, the PM stressed that such working meetings must be held quarterly. Ion Chicu noted that all ministers would weekly pay working visits to Moldova’s districts and the practice to organize cabinet meetings in the territory might be resumed.   

„Till late next January, I want to come to each district and hold discussions with the decision-makers. All that matters for me are, in fact, the steps following my visit in the territory,” Ion Chicu also said.

The district heads reviewed the most important problems faced, among which: lack of staff, unattractive salaries for public sector employees, bad roads, impossibility to hinder the erecting of illegal constructions, etc.   

The prime minister asked the colleagues to take note of the problems set forth by APL and get involved in line with the government’s Action Plan.

In the end of the meeting, Ion Chicu urged all leaders to make sure of the sufficient preparation to cope with the cold season of the year, mentioning here: the maintaining of the communication ways in a practicable state, supply with thermal agent of the public institutions and people’s dwellings, as well as the backing of the socially vulnerable categories.
