Moldova appreciated on Scandinavian tourism market

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - The tourism resources of Moldova have been promoted on the Scandinavian market and appreciated at the biggest event in the tourism industry of North Europe – MATKA 2020, recently held in Helsinki.    

Moldova had a presence with country stand with the national brand, Pomul Vieții (The Life Tree) and a string of related activities: meetings with the local specialized media, video films and virtual tours, all meant to enhance Moldova’s visibility on the exhibition’s competition platforms.    

At the exhibition, more than 50,000 consumers and about 20,000 professionals had possibility to explore emerging markets, such as Moldova, for the premium offer of tourist services. “The Scandinavian states: Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway are looking for a more expensive tourism product, focused on experience tourism, light adventure and sustainability – what Moldova can actually provide,” according to sources from the National Association for Inbound and Internal Tourism of Moldova  (ANTRIM).   

“Moldova’s tourism offer perfectly meets the expectations of the foreign tourists who seek authentic and original experiences, which requires a comprehensive and consistent communication. The financial support of the exhibition activity for 2019 amounted to over 1 million 134,000 lei, providing the participation of 55 economic agents in the international exhibitions carried out in seven countries. At the same time, 54 providers of tourism services from Moldova and 34 ones from abroad were involved in the B2B sessions held with the help of the Agency. The promotion of the tourism offer on new source markets, Moldova’s connection to the international tourism flow through elaborating the cross-border routes, enhancing the competences of the providers of tourism services, diversification of the local tourism product in accordance with the modern tendencies remain the priority goals of the institution for 2020 as well,” the director general of the Investments Agency, Rodica Verbeniuc, said.     

For its part, ANTRIM informed that, on the next period, it would make press tours for the Scandinavian specialty media and would back the organization of tours of familiarization for the partners of its members.   

The Moldova Competitiveness Project, financed by USAID, Government of Sweden and UK Aid, is the strategic partner for the implementation of the marketing programme of the tourism industry from the last four years. “Due to these joint efforts of promotion from the last years, Moldova showed outstanding achievements, entering the top of the destinations recommended by well-known publications, such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic or Forbes,” the deputy director of the Moldova Competitiveness Project, Diana Lazar, said.     

The promotion activities were organized by the National Association for Inbound and Internal Tourism of Moldova, within the marketing programme of the tourist destination, Moldova. Discover the roots of life #BeOurGuest, with the support of the Investments Agency and the Moldova Competitiveness Project, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development, Swedish government and UK Aid.
