Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - A centre of social and psychological rehabilitation for children with special needs will be opened in the Ceadar-Lunga town from southern Moldova. The project is carried out by a public organization, in partnership with the town’s mayoralty, which committed to repair a part of the building of the former headquarters of the emergency medical service on this purpose.

According to the project’s initiators, Vasili and Liubov Ivancev, the centre will give possibility to children with certain physical and mental deficiencies to easier integrate into the society, thus preparing for the independent life. All conditions will be created at the institution for beneficiaries’ rehabilitation: medical services (speech therapist, psychologist), physio-therapeutic offices, rooms for rest and recreation, canteen, etc.

„The centre’s employees will be busy with the children diagnosed with various severe forms of handicap. Over 20 children with locomotor deficiencies, who cannot move independently, have been already recorded on lists of beneficiaries. Often, families where these children are educated are isolated from the society and the carrying out of this project will allow creating conditions for a proper rehabilitation of children with special needs not only in Ceadar-Lunga, but also in the neighbouring settlements,” Liubov Ivancev told the website www.ceadir-lunga. md.

According to Ivancev, the rehabilitation Centre’s employees plan to organize also so-called Academies of Parents, where the latter will have possibility to learn from specialists recommendations and answers to all questions dealing with the education, training and development of their children.

The implementation of the project from Ceadar-Lunga is possible due to the financial assistance on behalf of the Embassy of Slovakia in Moldova. According to the Ceadar-Lunga mayoralty, 70 per cent of the works on the reconstruction of the centre’s rooms are carried out at present, after which the needed furniture and equipment are to be set.
