Moldovan PM participates in enlarged meeting of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in an enlarged meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

Attending the event were the heads of government from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The subject on changes triggered by the evolution of technologies and effects of the boosting of the digitalization process, in the context of the economy’s globalization, was in the focus of the PMs’ discussions. The officials confirmed that the communication and cooperation between governments, as well as the quickness of the decision-making process were at the basis of the improvement of the commercial and economic relations.    

The list of topical subjects, on which the EEU members will focus their efforts, includes measures meant to reduce the shadow economy and the issue of use of non-licenced operation programmes, obstacles and constraints in the inter-state trade, edification of the single market of energy and transport and logistics services, as well as other measures for the setting up of the single market.  

Prime Minister Chicu stressed Moldova’s interest in intensely communicating with the EEU member states, including on the platform of the Union’s inter-governmental meetings. “We thank you for invitation to participate in this meeting. Communication is important in edifying economic partnerships which open opportunities of development and economic growth. Moldova is a very good investment destination and the Free Economic Zones from the country represent a perfect solution to the companies interested in delivering goods to a market of about 900 million consumers,” Ion Chicu said.
