Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Supervision (APCSP) on the last period has made more controls at the commercial units which sell toys for children. As a result of the controls, institution’s inspectors banned the commercialization of 33,827 toys worth 636, 628 lei in all.

APCSP’s actions were triggered by a string of complaints received from consumers, including in the online environment, which showed the non-compliance of some toys for children, which pose danger for the latter’s safety and health. Among the non-compliant toys, there are scooters, bicycles, toys with soft padding, puppets, table games, plastic toys, etc.

According to the Agency for Consumer Protection, the most frequent infringements discovered following market verifications deal with the putting to sale of products without full information on the production country, producer, name of importer, as well as the lack of information in the official language on caution measures and way of use; putting to sale of toys for children without a compulsory assessment of the compliance, in the lack of the declaration on compliance, lack of reports on test for inoffensiveness indexes, etc.

In the context, APCSP comes up with more recommendations on the correctness and safety of buying toys for children. Thus, the institution warns consumers to check the label of products, purchasing only toys having the marking CE (this shows that the toys observes the requirements applicable established in the EU legislation on harmonization, transposed in the national legislation as well); not to buy goods which are not accompanies by instructions on use; to purchase toys from reputed producers, verified in the sense of the quality and safety, etc.

At the same time, Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Supervision asks residents to signal any safety problems dealing with toys, as well as other products and services, by calling the phone number of the consumer 022 51 51 51 or accessing the webpage http://consumator.gov.md.
