Moldova's diplomacy head discusses strengthening of Moldovan-Hungarian relations in Budapest

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today paid a working visit to Hungary’s capital. In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head had meetings with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Levente Magyar, as well as Deputy President of the National Assembly of Hungary János Latorcai, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.    

In discussions, the officials set new prospects in the bilateral political and diplomatic dialogue, which is substantive, as well as ways of strengthening and diversifying, in continuation, the privileged relation between Moldova and Hungary, in all its aspects. 

Minister Aureliu Ciocoi highly appreciated the Hungarian authorities’ commitment to support the institutional reforms from Moldova. He thanked for the clear message of Hungary’s government on willingness to assist Moldova in its European integration efforts and to identify concrete sectors for backing.

An important subject of the talks was the preparation of a visit to Chisinau by Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, scheduled for next March, and eventually the signing of a strategic political document between Moldova and Hungary, during the visit.     

The sides accepted the focusing of efforts to successfully organize a Moldovan-Hungarian forum of businesspeople in Chisinau, on the sidelines of the visit by the prime minister of Hungary, which is to contribute to the fostering of the relations between the economic actors of both countries. In the context, Aureliu Ciocoi reconfirmed the support provided by the Moldovan government to the community of businesspeople who essentially contribute to the development of the economic relations between the two countries.  

Also, the sides highlighted the importance paid to the holding of the fourth meeting of the Moldovan-Hungarian joint inter-governmental commission for economic and commercial cooperation in Chisinau on 14-15 May 2020.

During the visit, the minister participated, as guest, in a yearly meeting of the Hungarian ambassadors, within which he gave a speech on the challenges faced by the modern diplomacy at the world and regional levels and gave an interview to the prestigious magazine Figyelő.
