Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - The citizens from all over the world pay homage to the planet each year on the last Saturday of March, by participating in the biggest environment action – Earth Hour.

The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) informs that, in the context of the state of emergency, established in Moldova because of the epidemiological situation in the country, as well as in order not to allow the appearance of the risk of falling sick with COVID-19, no public events dedicated to the Earth Hour environment action, will be organized.

MADRM urges and encourages the citizens to voluntarily turn off the light and the non-essential household appliances during one hour at any time today, thus showing care for the environment. Also, people are urged to save electric energy during the entire year and to personally contribute, through various actions, to the diminution of the impact of the climate changes.

This year, the people from 160 countries #Stayathome in the family and speak about how the nature warns the mankind about the climate changes and which is their impact on the process of degradation of the biodiversity and soils, how this hits the water resources, woods and food security.

Starting from 2017, at an initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Earth Hour has been yearly marked by turning off the light on the last Saturday of March between 20:30 and 21:30.
