Moldovan PM chars meeting of Commission for Emergency Situations

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations. At the event, the competent authorities reported the latest information for the prevention and combating of the COVID-19 virus, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu informed that 32 cases of infection with the new-type coronavirus had been registered, of which two cases of import from Romania and the United Kingdom and 30 local ones. As many as 231 samples were collected in all.   

„The number of cases confirmed increases; we reiterate the call to the citizens to be quite cautious. We are sure that, of we observe the rules, we will not allow a rise in the number of cases of coronavirus and we will have capacities to manage the situation. This dark scenario can be avoided, if we are united. It is clear that we will overcome this situation and the authorities and the citizens make the efforts needed,’’ the prime minister said.   

Interior Minister Pavel Voicu noted that more than 8,000 Interior Ministry employees were involved in the activities provided for to this end. The flow of people who entered Moldova increased against the last week. As many as 5,324 people were verified jointly with family physicians and mayors.   

More than 6,000 economic agents were verified; two of them infringed the restrictive measures established by the legislation and official reports were compiled. At the same time, the person with COVID-19, who today morning fled the hospital where he was put, has been found and detained. If decision-makers prove that the man infected also other people, he runs the risk of getting a criminal file.    

Defence Minister Alexandru Pinzari informed that the Armed Forces were presently involved in the escorting of the patients tested positively for coronavirus and in the carriage of medical staff to the working places.   

Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea said that the ministry currently was preparing the list of citizens from the Diaspora, who urgently need to return to Moldova. The data is systematized and the best mechanism is identified for the citizens’ return. In the context, the participants in the meeting discussed the compulsoriness for the Moldovans who return from abroad to have the mandatory health insurance policy. The PM said that the air flights would not be authorized if: 1) the passengers are not selected according to the priority criteria and 2) they do not have health insurance policy. Ion Chicu asked to be created a mechanism applicable at the crossing of the land border as well.        

Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju referred to the situation in terms of export in cereal products. He stressed the need to cease for a period the release of certificates for the export of cereals, as well as of cattle with a weight of up to 400 kg. The export of fruits will continue with no restrictions.

The participants in the meeting considered and approved the Instruction No 8 of the Commission for Emergency Situations from 28 March.
