Moldovan government to allocate 2.1 billion lei to help business environment on crisis period

Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government will earmark 2.1 billion lei for measures of supporting the business environment. Prime Minister Ion Chicu today made statements to this effect at a news briefing.  

„We summon a cabinet meeting, in order to rectify the 2020 budget and allocate additional resources for priority purposes. As much as 2.1 billion lei  - for helping the business environment; all announced actions are contained here, including 1.3 billion lei for subsidizing the economic agents for the payment of salaries or taxes related to the payment of salaries. As much as 300 million lei of this sum are those announced for the emergency state period and about one billion – for economic agents,’’ Chicu said.  

At the same time, the PM noted that 90 million lei would be earmarked for subsidizing the interests on loans for economic agents.

“Additionally, we will allocate one billion lei for the construction of roads inside settlements; this is money from loans. I have heard proposals to cut capital investments and direct them for current expenses. This is a proposal lacking logic. The capital investments are from loans; if we do not invest, we will not be given this money. Moreover, this means also jobs for citizens, including those who returned home. It is necessary that the economy works,’’ the PM said.   

The government will hold a meeting on 17 April, to approve the rectifications to the budget. Subsequently, the document will be submitted to parliament.
