Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/- The promotion of Moldovan products on the Chinese market depends a lot on the cultural context, and an increased visibility on local social networks and success stories of Moldovan entrepreneurs active on the Chinese market contribute to the increase of demand and consumption. This is the conclusion of the 7th session, entitled Compass to Asia and the Pacific held online on Thursday as part of the Export morning program organized by the Investment Agency.

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the program launched last year continues online and aims to provide Moldovan entrepreneurs with complex support - informative and practical - to access foreign markets. The export session in China brought together the pre-pandemic bilateral trade experience, the current situation and the vision for the future of exports to this market from the perspective of local companies representing the top export sectors.

In 2019, the Republic of Moldova exported goods to the Chinese market worth 17.4 million dollars. Thus, China ranks 6th among our country's main trading partners worldwide, with a share of 7.1% of total trade volume.

Moldova and China are currently negotiating the signing of the Free Trade Agreement, which will expand export and import to the Moldovan and Chinese markets, as well as boost economic and trade cooperation between the states.

According to Iuliana Drăgălin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, over the years, Moldovan-Chinese trade and economic relations have experienced a dynamic period. "Negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and China have already gone through three stages, in which we agreed 70% of the legal framework," Dragalin said.

The current edition, dedicated to China, was preceded by sessions focused on export potential of Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic. The next session will focus on export opportunities in the Russian Federation.
