Termoelectrica enterprise of Moldova to produce thermal energy from biomass

Chisinau, 7 July /MOLDPRES/ - Suburban thermal power plants will produce thermal energy from biomass.  

According to a press release by the Termoelectrica enterprise, the company will soon start an ecological project which sees production of thermal energy from biomass at suburban thermal power plants administrated.  

The initiative comes as a result of Termoelectrica’s cooperation with the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plants’ Protection and Terravesta from the United Kingdom, which provides for the integration of the energy plant Miscanthus into the cycle of producing thermal energy in the centralized heating systems. The ecological project was nominated winner at a contest of innovation and technological transfer projects, organized by the National Agency for Research and Development and is to be co-financed by Termoelectrica from the state budget at the level of 50 per cent. The overall value of the investment in of this pilot project is of about 1.7 million lei.      

Termoelectrica’s estimations show that 5,500 apartments, 110 houses, 40 enterprises, 12 public kindergartens, 25 education units and eight medical institutions will benefit from ecological thermal energy.
