Descendants of medical employees dead of COVID-19 to receive state allowances in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 July /MOLDPRES/ - The descendants of the medical employees dead of COVID-19 will receive state allowances. The commission for control of public money gave a positive opinion on a draft law to this effect.
Under the document worked out by the government, the following persons will benefit from allowance: the survivor husband for a five-year period after the death of the family provider; children till the age of 18, if they continue their education at the day education institutions (secondary, secondary vocational and higher) – till its finishing, without exceeding the age of 23 years. If there are no descendants of the category of the aforementioned ones, the allowance is provided to one of the parents.
The quantum of the allowance will be established depending on the category of descendants. Thus, for the survivor husband – at the level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis, for children – at the level of 75 per cent for each descendant, for parents – at the level of 50 per cent of the calculation basis.
At the same time, the draft sees that the quantum of the allowance calculated cannot be lower than 50 per cent of the size of the average monthly salary on the national economy.
According to the document, the allowance is established starting the date of death, if the application and acts needed were submitted in a period of 90 days after the concerned day.
To become law, the draft should be adopted by the parliament.
