Over two hundred online events to be organized during Diaspora Days - 2020

Chisinau, 8 August /MOLDPRES/- Festivals, local virtual tours, culinary master classes, e-pies, bike tours, ZOOM, watching movies, intellectual games, local business meetings - all are organized online in August in 33 localities where Diaspora Days take place.

Diaspora Days slogan is A week at home, and town halls in partnership with native associations will organize 220 activities online in August. This is the solution for this year's pandemic period, which marks five years of local Diaspora Days, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Switzerland.

Each locality has an agenda of economic, social, cultural and fundraising activities. It is promoted on Facebook of the Association, being included in a national calendar of Diaspora Days locally.

To meet the immediate needs of migrants, town halls make presentations of services that Moldovans can solve online cadastral, legal issues etc.

At the same time, the National Agency for Employment (ANOFM) joined the Diaspora Days with the New Directions HOME campaign. Thus, for a month, over 20 regional events will be organized where Moldovans from the country and abroad will find out about the existing vacancies, as well as the services offered by ANOFM. "The Diaspora Days are a real chance to present the opportunities in the country to migrants residing abroad. In August we have the opportunity to address a wider audience in the diaspora, people who have returned home physically or virtually ", ANOFM director Raisa Dogaru said.

The Diaspora Days at local level are organized in Moldova since 2016 with the support of UNDP and Switzerland and are part of events held by the Diaspora Relations Office at national level.
