Moldovan speaker meets ambassador of South Africa

Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii discussed today with Andre Johannes Groenewald, Ambassador of South Africa to Ukraine and Non-Resident Ambassador to Moldova, Georgia and Armenia, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

This was the first bilateral meeting since appointment, the speaker wished success in diplomatic activity and was confident in the development of relations between the two countries.

At the same time, Greceanii noted that Moldova is interested in attracting investments, developing investment projects, creating joint ventures, increasing exports and imports. In this context, the speaker pointed out that in Moldova 16 industrial platforms were created in different regions of the country.

In the parliamentary sector, the speaker proposed the creation of friendship group between the parliaments of the two states, which would identify new opportunities for parliamentary cooperation.

For his part, Andre Johannes Groenewald said that the Republic of South Africa is also interested in developing business in the Black Sea and Eastern Europe. "I want more economic and political activities for our countries," said the Ambassador.

The officials addressed gender equality and women’s role in decision-making.

Diplomatic relations between Moldova and South Africa were set up on 15 June 1992.
