Moldovan head of state has online discission with president of Russia

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a videoconference-format discussion with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the presidential press service has reported.

The officials tackled a wide spectrum of subjects on the interaction between the two countries within the strategic partnership. The sides found out with satisfaction the continuously increasing dynamic of the bilateral relations, despite the pandemic crisis.

The interlocutors paid increased attention to up-to-date subjects. Thus, on 1 October, a Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum will be held in a format of teleconference and a meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation in format of videoconference will take place on 2 October.   

Also, the Moldovan head of state discussed with Russia’s president the evolution of the negotiations on the getting by Moldova of a Russian loan worth 200 million euros. At the same time, Igor Dodon and Vladimir Putin approached issues on the signing of an agreement on social protection, providing social assistance on behalf of Russia for the purchasing of 20,000 tons of diesel oil for Moldova’s farmers. To this end, the Russian side is willing to provide 500 million roubles and the first installment might be transferred on the days to come.   

In continuation, the head of state reiterated the Moldovan side’s interest in the buying of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus, after it goes through all stages of testing and gets the authorization of the World Health Organization (WHO).

At the same time, Igor Dodon asked Russia’s leadership to allow students from Moldova, who study in Russia, to come to the education place. In the context, the Moldovan president asked his Russian counterpart to consider possibility to resume the air and railway traffic between the two countries.   

The officials agreed that a phone conversation between the prime ministers of Moldova and Russia would take place on the agreements reached.
