At the same time, the Belgian companies working on the Moldovan market shared their experience, completing the general vision.

„Moldova is quite well positioned in terms of the telecommunications infrastructure, with a mobile penetration of 100 per cent and a presence of optic fiber network of 98.2 per cent. This fact represents a solid fundament for the development of the IT, BPO and SSC sectors, which generate services with added value for the national economy and allow the employment and motivation of young gifted people. This, the IT industry has grown thrice in the last four years and the volume of services exported for 2019 exceeded the export in the country’s wine-making industry,’’ the director general of the Investments Agency, Rodica Verbeniuc, said.

During 2015-2019, the IT industry registered a three-fold increase in the annual incomes from sales – from 126 million dollars to 396 million dollars – accounting for 3.1 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product.

To give an impetus to the development of the information and innovation technologies, the government in 2018 launched a single model of promotion of the IT ecosystem – IT Virtual Park, which presently has already more than 600 residents from such countries as the United States, Romania, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany.
