Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/- Today Prime Minister Ion Chicu participated in an event for signing the contract for the rehabilitation of roads connecting the villages of Pojăreni, Costești, Zâmbreni, Horești and Țipala, also called Corridor 16. Financial support for the project will be provided by the World Bank, co-financed by the Road Fund, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier said that the development and modernization of infrastructure remains the government's priority. Only in this way will it be possible to attract entrepreneurs to invest in the localities of the Republic of Moldova, and we will also create conditions to return the diaspora home.
"This road aims at the economic development of the region. In addition to providing well-paid jobs to people of these villages, it will allow us to develop the economy in the region. That's the only way the diaspora will come home. I am sure that the entrepreneurs will comply with all commitments, will make quality works and will end on time. I thank my colleagues of the World Bank who are very cooperative. Delighted with the correct and well-thought-out use of the project, WB aims to come up with other similar programs ", he said.
Following public tenders, the State Road Administration designated three winning companies. They will start the reconstruction works on 1 December and will have to complete them for 18 months.
The contracts are part of the Local Road Improvement Project. To achieve this, the World Bank has allocated to the government financial support of 80 million dollars with a co-financing from the Road Fund worth 6.3 million dollars.
