Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - ‘’I do not go to parliament to beg votes, but I am absolutely sure that, for a string of documents, such as the budget law for 2021, agreement with the International Monetary Fund, Russian loan, etc., it is necessary that the lawmakers, no matter the faction they belong to, support them, which they will actually do.’’ Prime Minister Ion Chicu today made statements to this effect at a news conference on the one year of work of his government.

„Regardless of the entire political struggle, all MPs are aware of the fact what would mean for the country to enter the New Year without budget, without fiscal policy and without programme with IMF. I am sure that the lawmakers are aware of this. Especially as, after 15 November, most MPs will get out of this electoral fever, will return to the citizens’ agenda and will be busy with what is really important for the country and not for their political agendas,’’ the prime minister said.

The PM reiterated that ‘’he does not rely on anyone’s vote in parliament.’’ ‘’I will present the drafts just I used to present them, or I believe that most MPs will back them. I want to see the lawmaker who will not support the programme with IMF, for instance, or who will not vote for the increase in salaries for physicians starting from 1 January. I am sure of this, as I do not plan any geopolitical or political document. We, in general, did not come with documents of this kind, so that the support, negotiation or begging of votes to be necessary. We neither plan important appointments, so that to make negotiation needed; therefore, I am sure that that we will enjoy support on behalf of the majority,’’ the official said.

The Ion Chicu government was approved with 62 votes on 14 November 2019, following the motion of censure, which led to the dismissal of the government led by Maia Sandu on 12 November. At that time, at the presentation of the new cabinet’s list, Ion Chicu said that it was about a minority, transition government, till the next presidential elections.
