Armenia's Ambassador ends diplomatic mission in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - Acting President Igor Dodon today had a meeting with Ambassador of Armenia to Moldova Jivan Movsisyan, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.  

According to the presidential press service, the head of state thanked the Ambassador for the efforts taken during those almost four years of mandate, in order to strengthen the Moldovan-Armenian cooperation relations. On this period, the first official visit by the Moldovan president to Armenia took place (2017) took place, Moldova participated in the Francophonie Summit from Yerevan (2018) and the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council from Yerevan (2019), where Moldova has status of observer. At the same time, in February 2020, a delegation of Moldova’s parliament, led by Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, paid a visit to Armenia’s capital.    

Igor Dodon stressed the Moldovan leadership’s willingness to continue extending the Moldovan-Armenian dialogue, despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the two countries. For this reason, several important visits and the first meeting of the intergovernmental bilateral commission for commercial and economic cooperation were postponed.

As for the measures of development of commercial, economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties between Moldova and Armenia, the officials voiced hope for the active participation in this process of Moldova’s Honorary Consulate in Armenia and Armenia’s Honorary Consulate in Moldova.

In the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon wished Jivan Movsisyan success in continuation in the work he is to carry out. He expressed confidence that the new Ambassador of Armenia would also contribute to consolidating the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
