Moldovan foreign affairs minister, Estonian counterpart dicsuss bilateral cooperation agenda

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a phone conversation with Estonia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Urmas Reinsalu, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.

The two officials tackled up-to-date issues on the agenda of the Moldovan-Estonian bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation. The sides stressed the importance of continuing the political and diplomatic dialogue and extending the sectoral partnerships between the two states, especially in the context of overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Aureliu Ciocoi and Urmas Reinsalu welcomed the strengthening of the bilateral legal framework, given that two protocols in the social insurances field were signed between Estonian minister of Social Affairs Tanel Kiik and Moldova’s Ambassador to Estonia Ion Stavila today.  

The foreign affairs ministers referred to concrete possibilities of backing the European integration of Moldova both bilaterally and within European institutions, including in the context of the Eastern Partnership. In the context, Aureliu Ciocoi highlighted the irreversibility of the European modernization vector, aimed at Moldova’s development.     

The Moldovan official also thanked for the solid support provided by Estonia to promote the European agenda, in particular, in the implementation of the reforms provided for in the Association Agreement, as well as maintaining Moldova in the list of priority states for Estonia’s official development assistance, including the recent contribution worth 50,000 euros to creating mobile COVID-19 quarantine and sorting centres.  

The officials exchanged opinions on up-to-date issues regionally and internationally, as well the two states’ cooperation within international organizations. The sides emphasized the good cooperation with Estonia within OSCE, especially to support the Moldovan authorities’ approaches of Transnistrian conflict settlement.
