Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Potential from the Gulf – 1,001 Opportunities, was the title of the tenth session of the Export Morning programme, organized by the Investments Agency today. The session is part of a string of events dedicated to Moldovan exporters, in order to enhance their export competences and capacities.

The session was dedicated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – the most important commercial partner of Moldova in the region of the Persian Gulf. The event’s goal was to present the advantages of the UAE market and to turn to good account the possibilities of bilateral cooperation, as well as the challenges as to the exports to the Middle East.

„The today’s event is dedicated to a market which remains to be explored by economic agents and local producers. Sometimes, companies from Moldova are reticent to the market from the Emirates, mostly due to the different consumption culture; yet, while studying in detail the preferences and customs of local consumers, we will surely manage to turn to account the vast potential which this market can provide. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) makes efforts to identify potential sales markets. In this respect, it is important to create a friendly economic environment for ensuring a proper bilateral legal framework for both sides,’’ the MEI state secretary, Iuliana Dragalin, said.

The official noted that, during 2017-2018, the most important economic agreements had been signed between the governments of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates. Also, Dragalin stressed the importance that the direct flights Chisinau – Abu Dhabi are authorized by the Civil Aviation Authority, which represents a premise for the business environment and for creating direct relations between markets, as well as between companies from both countries.

In the context, the MEI state secretary called on the business environment and companies from all sectors to come up with offers for the placement of goods at Moldova’s stand at Expo Dubai 2020, due to be held on the period 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022. The concerned exhibition represents an opportunity for Moldova to assert itself both on the market of the Emirates and the international one, as well as for identifying new investment projects.

The foreign trade between Moldova and the United Aram Emirates in January-September 2020 registered a sum of 4.444 million dollars. Forty one companies with capital from UAE work in Moldova; the overall capital invested amounts to 41.855 million lei.
