Moldova, Ukraine to boost bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting at the headquarters of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, on a working visit to Moldova, at an invitation by the Moldovan diplomacy head, the MAEIE press service has reported.  

During discussions held at the delegations’ plenary meeting, the foreign affairs ministers appreciated the ascendant character of the bilateral dialogue. The officials reconfirmed both sides’ willingness for the qualitative advancement of the partnership relations between the two friendly countries, in the spirit of the traditional good-neighbour relations.

Aureliu Ciocoi and Dmytro Kuleba referred to the political and diplomatic dialogue and agreed on fostering the high-level contacts, including the organization of a visit to Ukraine by Moldova’s president in early 2021. At the same time, the diplomats praised the deepening of the sectoral dialogue, for turning to good account the present potential, including in order to advance the discussions on the bilateral files which have not been given final touches as yet.     

The heads of the two diplomacies reiterated the firm attachment of Moldova and Ukraine to the consistent promotion of the European integration vector. They expressed common position that this vector provided additional prospects for modernization, as well as for initiating cooperation in the Moldovan-Ukrainian file.  

The officials also discussed the interaction between the foreign affairs ministries from Chisinau and Kiev, including the summoning of consultations in the European integration sector, as well as the cooperation between the two countries on regional, international and multilateral platforms. The ministers stressed the need to hold the next meeting of the inter-governmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation, as well as to further promote the direct dialogue at the governmental level.  

A special subject of the meeting was focused on the security-related issues; the sides reconfirmed the position of principle on the mutual support of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and Ukraine.
