Most studies in Romanian in primary, secondary education

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/- The National Statistics Bureau reports that out of 334.4 thousand pupils enrolled in general primary and secondary education, 80.6% study in Romanian, 19.2% - in Russian and 0.2% in Ukrainian, English and Bulgarian .

The BNS presented data on the activity of general primary and secondary education institutions in early 2020/21 academic year. In early 2020/21 academic year, 334.4 thousand pupils were enrolled in general primary and secondary education, up by 1.2 thousand than in the previous academic year. 

In 2020/21 academic year, the network of schools in primary and general secondary education consists of 106 primary schools, 787 gymnasiums, 338 high schools and 10 schools for children with disabilities in intellectual or physical development. Out of 1241 general primary and secondary education institutions, 98.1% belong to the public sector and 74.5% operate in rural areas.
