Indonesia might open honorific consulate in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ -  Acting Prime Minister  Aureliu Ciocoi on 19 January received Bucharest-based Ambassador of Indonesia to Moldova Muhammad Amhar Azeth, on a working visit to Chisinau.  

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the officials pointed out the common interest in strengthening the Moldovan-Indonesian cooperation in sectors of interest, as well as in turning to good account the vast potential of the bilateral relations, including through the institution of honorific consulates.

The diplomats set new goals of bilateral cooperation for this year, meant to consolidate and diversify the political dialogue and economic relations, including in the culture and education fields.  

Aureliu Ciocoi stressed the importance of boosting the commercial exchanges. The sides highlighted the need to turn to account the potential of economic and investment cooperation through identifying efficient mechanisms of cooperation between the business environments from the two countries, having at the basis the memorandum in the field of economic diplomacy, signed between the foreign affairs ministries from Chisinau and Jakarta.  

Indonesian Ambassador Muhammad Amhar Azeth expressed the interest of Indonesia’s authorities to inaugurate an honorific consulate in Chisinau, which will contribute to the boosting of the cooperation between the two countries, in particular, under the commercial and economic, cultural, social and humanitarian  aspects. At the same time, the diplomat also informed about the possibility for the two countries to cooperate on the subject of residents’ immunization against COVID-19.  

At the meeting, acting PM Aureliu Ciocoi conveyed the message of condolences addressed to the Indonesian leadership and nation on the recent earthquake on the Sulawesi island, followed by a strong tsunami, which led to big human and material losses.
