Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National Cinematography Centre (CNC) in 2021 will financially back eight cinematographic projects. Four of them are full-length fiction films, two full-length documentaries, one development of fiction project and one development of documentary project.

According to CNC’s press release, the cinematographic project on top of the hierarchy of the files admitted will cover the COVID-19 phenomenon.  The fiction film titled, pandemia.md, by film director and script writer Valeriu Jereghi, accumulated 79.80 points. The movie’s scenario was outlined in the beginning of the last year at a request by journalists, where the author tells about more events found on the quarantine period. Another fiction film titled, Mario, Maria, Marinel, is about the drama of a migrant woman of Moldova. The scenario and direction is signed by Violeta Gorgos. The film will be shot both in Moldova and in Italy – the country which presently ‘‘hosts’’ most Moldovans.

Most projects which got into the financing phase will bring films with social messages to the wide public. Thus, Familia Anghel (The Anghel family) is a cinematographic project and a co-production (Moldova, Romania, France), which is to be shot in 2021. The full-length film will tell about the drama of two brothers, dissidents of the Soviet communist regime, whom the fate divided in a tragic way.

This year, CNC will financially support two project developments. The Racketa Production production house in 2021 is to develop the scenario of a fiction film with the temporary title, The Curse of Maria Dragan, directed by Calin Laur, producer Stefan Nahaba, which will cover the life of Maria Dragan. The second project titled, Landing, signed by the Moldovan fellow countrywoman, Xenia Ciuvaseva, who settled in Germany, which is represented in contest by the MOLDOX Public Association, as producer, this year is to continue the development of  scenario of her own self-biography, focused on the phenomenon of migration of parents from children’s lives. Moldova, Germany and Serbia are among the co-producers of the project under development.

Twenty eight projects participated in the contest on financing cinematographic projects. Twenty four of them were admitted to the phase of scenarios’ assessment.
