Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine speak out for deepening of cooperation within Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova, in its capacity of active participant in the Eastern Partnership (EaP), is interested in the continuous deepening of the cooperation between EU and its eastern partners. This year is of special importance for EaP, as the partner states, EU member states and the European institutions are to meet at the EaP Summit to decide on the goals of cooperation for the next years, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.  

In the context, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi and his counterparts from Ukraine and Georgia, Dmytro Kuleba and David Zalkaliani, submitted a joint letter to European officials and the foreign affairs ministers of the EU member states, thereby setting forth their vision on the Eastern Partnership. The common message of the three associated countries is focused on the importance of the openness of new cooperation dimensions for interested partners as regards the deepening of the political dialogue, as well as the economic and sectoral integration.      

The ministers noted a string of priority directions, among which the inclusion on the agenda of the dialogue between the three associated partners and the European Commission of the new fields, such as transport, energy sector, justice, strengthening the cooperation in the security field, extending the partners’ cooperation within EU programmes, providing needed assistance for reforms’ implementation.    

The letter signed by the heads of the three diplomacies is an expression of the joint effort to give to the Eastern Partnership a long-term strategic vision, which is to meet the European aspirations of the three associated countries.
