Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The increase in prices for fuels is an agreed upon action of the oil sector employees. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS).

After over six hours of CSS meeting, the head of state held a news briefing, during which she informed about the subjects discussed today. Sandu noted that the state’s structures should get involved in the problem of prices for fuels and the best solution would be the capping of the pump prices.

„The way these increases are made clearly do not favour the citizens. I invited representatives of the National Energy Regulatory Agency and the Competition Council and they came up with their arguments. The immediate solution to this situation is to cap the oil price and the legislation must be amended for this,’’ Sandu said.

The president also said that, on the next period, the Competition Council should come up with proposals on amending the legislation or with freezing of prices.

Maia Sandu informed that the subject on granting to concession of the Chisinau Airport was on the agenda too. She said that an inquiry would be started at the government as to the monitoring of the investments at the Airport on the period 2014-2019.
