Public health consultative council under prime minister of Moldova holds meeting

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The public health consultative council under the prime minister held its second meeting today. The agenda comprised more subjects, among which the identification of essential and immediate measures for combating the pandemic.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Tatiana Zatic, unveiled updated information on the epidemiological situation from Moldova and carrying out of the anti-Covid vaccination process. In the last week alone, the rate of lethal cases grew by over 30 per cent, thus Moldova ranking third in the world according to the number of deaths reported.    

The head of the Clinic of Anaesthesis and Intensive Therapy of the Republican Clinical Hospital, professor Victor Cojocaru informed that, at present, the capacity of the intensive therapy sections from the Chisinau-based medical and sanitary institutions was close to limit, especially as regards the availability of the medical staff.  

At the meeting, the Council members discussed the reasons for the worsening of the health crisis, one of which is the intense community transmission; they also analyzed the impact of the measures of policies adopted so far and proposed a string of intervention solutions, in order to diminish the spread of Covid-19.  

Therefore, the participants in the meeting ruled to elaborate and recommend the implementation nationally of a plan of measures for combating the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic, which is to include measures on limiting the spread of the virus and strengthening the national health systems.
