Moldova-United Nations cooperation discussed at Antalya Diplomacy Forum

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, today had a meeting with United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Europe, Central Asia and America Miroslav Jenča. 

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service, in the beginning of the meeting, PM Aureliu Ciocoi conveyed congratulations to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres for his re-election in the office held, assuring of Moldova’s support for the efforts regarding the ensuring of peace, security, human rights, climate actions and sustainable development.   

Aureliu Ciocoi and Miroslav Jenča exchanged opinions on up-to-date subjects on the organization’s agenda and reviewed aspects of Moldova’s cooperation within the United Nations Organization. The discussion was focused on major processes within the organization, regional security and the present stage of the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict settlement.

Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi appreciated the role, expertise and assistance of UNO and its specialized agencies in overcoming the effects of the pandemic crisis. At the same time, the Moldovan official expressed full support of Moldova in the process of the organization’s reformation, including the carrying out of the priorities on the UN agenda as regards the advancement of the actions at the global level in the field of climate changes, implementation of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and promotion of the observance of human rights.  

For his part, the UN official said that Moldova was a reliable partner and reconfirmed the support of the United Nations Organization in efforts of reformation of sustainable development of Moldova.
