Chisinau authorities to set new management of household waste processing

Chisinau,7 July /MOLDPRES/-  Chisinau administration is learning solid waste management from the Austrian authorities.

Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban, on an official visit to Austria, visited the solid waste processing plant in Vienna. The company is a modern and technological one, being located right in the center of the city, and the investments for this objective are about 250 million euros.

The mayor made a retrospective of our situation, noting that in the last 1.5 years, local authorities have made progress in this area. These refer to the construction of the leachate treatment plant and the protection dam, the purchase of a modern compactor for waste storage on the landfill, the construction of the access road and the arrangement of municipal landfill, with monitoring of field activity and installation of video cameras on the perimeter.

In the next period, the municipality of Chisinau will start implementing a comprehensive project to modernize the service of collection and processing of household waste.

Ion Ceban listed the steps to be taken in terms of household waste processing: recultivation of the Țânțăreni waste landfill and modernization of the adjacent infrastructure; conservation of the Ciocana landfill; renewal of the special technique for waste collection and transportation; assembling a sorting line for recyclable materials; separate waste collection throughout the municipality; modernization of Autosalubritate company, by equipping with new machines and necessary equipment; purchasing new containers for separate waste collection, etc.
