Number of tourists increased in first six months of 2021

Chisinau, 19 August /MOLDPRES/- In January- June 2021, hotels in the country accommodated over 56 thousand tourists, most of them Moldovans.

The National Statistics Bureau informs that in January-June 2021, the collective tourist reception structures with accommodation functions were attended by 56.4 thousand tourists or 36.5% more than the corresponding period of the previous year. Out of the total number of tourists, 36.8 thousand (or 65.2%) were resident tourists and 19.6 thousand (34.8%) - foreign citizens.

Compared to January-June 2020, the number of non-resident tourists increased by 2.5% and of resident tourists by 65.7%. The most foreign tourists came from Romania (31.9%), the Russian Federation (13.0%), Ukraine (11.6%), the United States (8.4%) and Turkey (5.7%) .
