Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival to take place in Chisinau, Iasi

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/- The 13th edition of Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival will take place on September 22-23 in Iasi and on September 24-25 in Chisinau.
According to writer and editor Daniel Corbu, the opening of the Festival will take place on September 22, at 12.00, at the Union Museum in Iași, after which, in the National Opera Hall in Iași. Also on the first day, at 6.30 pm, the homage show will take place with the participation of master Eugen Doga.
The International Poetry Festival will continue with laying flowers on September 24 on the Alley of Classics of Romanian Literature in Chisinau and will end on September 25.
In 1990 he was elected Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy, and in 1993 - corresponding member.
He passed away on January 18, 2009 following a car accident.
Grigore Vieru was decorated post-mortem with the National Order "Star of Romania" in the rank of Grand Cross. Currently, several schools in the Republic of Moldova, a boulevard in the capital and a street in Iasi, Romania, bear his name.
The Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival was launched in 2009.
