Prosecutor's office filed new complaint with top court

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo addressed the Constitutional Court today to review the constitutionality of the 6 September presidential decree on legal termination of Dumitru Pulbere's term as a member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP).
According to the press service of the Prosecutor's Office, the Prosecutor General also asks the court to exercise control over the constitutionality of the phrase "as well as the age of 65" in the Law on Prosecutor's Office, set in the text by amendments made by Parliament on 24 August 2021.
Moreover, the Constitutional Court is requested to rule on constitutionality of the procedure for legislating Law No102 of August 24, 2021 amending and supplementing the Law on Prosecutor's Office, in the aforementioned part.
"The General Prosecutor's Office considers it necessary to suspend the action of the contested provisions in order to preserve the constitutional order, the independence of the CSP, the irremovability and stability of the mandate of the members of this self-governing body, as an authority with fundamental role in exercising state power" , the statement reads.
