Number of COVID-19 cases increasing - health ministry says

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/- On 27 September - 3 October 8,207 cases of COVID-19 were registered, up by 12% than in the previous week. The data were made public today by the Ministry of Health.
State Secretary Svetlana Nicolaescu said that a third of new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Chisinau. Balti remains the most affected region this week. The districts on the left bank of the Dniester, Sângerei and Edineț also exceeded the epidemic threshold, being placed under the red code.
She added that the number of cases of COVID-19 in children is also increasing, but most minors get the disease in mild form.
In the last seven days, 159 deaths have been recorded, most of them people who lost their lives due to the virus being over 60 years old. None of the deceased were vaccinated against COVID.
33 hospitals out of the 61 existing ones are currently involved in treating patients with the new coronavirus. To date, 2566 patients have been hospitalized, of which 289 in intensive care units. The number of people who need intubation is also increasing.
Since the start of the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, 1,412,166 doses of vaccine have been administered.
