Moldovan education ministry says 497 classes in quarantine on 22 October

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today informs that 497 classes were in quarantine on 22 October, as compared to 538 ones closed in quarantine one week before (15 October.)  

According to data unveiled by local specialty bodies in the education sector, there were 817 pupils tested positive with COVID-19 (against 751 ones in the previous week); 13,374 pupils were in self-isolation regime (as compared to 12,938 ones in the last week); 296 teachers were confirmed positive (against 260 ones in the previous week) and 226 teachers were in self-isolation (as compared to 210 ones in the previous week.). „Seventy three people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new virus (as compared with 72 in the previous week); 83 people were in self-isolation (against 77 in the previous week).    

At the same time, on 22 October, 8 early education institutions and 59 groups of children were in quarantine, as compared to 9 institutions and 55 groups on the previous period (15 October), ‘’MEC said.  

According to the ministry, there were 36 children confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus (against 35 ones on the previous period); 1,786 children were in self-isolation (as compared with 1,577 ones on the earlier period); 80 teachers were confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus (as compared with 91 ones on the previous period) and 116 teachers were in self-isolation (against 107on the earlier period). Sixty one people out of the non-didactic and auxiliary staff were infected with the new-type coronavirus; another 152 were in self-isolation (against 44 people infected and 109 in self-isolation on the previous period).   

A number of 32 pupils, 15 teachers and 7 auxiliary staff employees from vocational education institutions were confirmed positive with the COVID-19 virus on 22 October. Respectively, 37 students, 14 teachers and 12 auxiliary staff employees were confirmed positive with Covid-19 in higher education institutions on the concerned date.   

The Education and Research Ministry reiterates the urge to the heads of the education institutions, teachers, students and pupils to observe all measures of protection against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
