National Prizes for 2021 awarded at Moldova's government

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ - The laureates of the National Prize for 2021 today were paid homage at a festive ceremony held at the government’s headquarters. The winners of this year were congratulated by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, handed them the laureate diplomas.   

„We need, more than ever, mobilization in order to edify a worthy future or I am honoured to speak to people who represent a pride of the country, who contributed to the consolidation of the national values and who continue to contribute to the edification of this future. Moldova has a huge potential and we can become a provider of talents in various sectors: art, culture, science, sport, etc. You have brought valuable things to the society, which made the country richer. On behalf of all the country’s citizens, I offer you sincere thanks for the work carried out and dedication,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said at the event.   

The winners were selected by secret vote by the members of the commission for awarding the National Prize. In 2021, the National Prize was awarded to the following personalities: 

Ghenadie Jaloba, fine artist, for special merits in the work and promotion of the national culture;  

Petru Neamțu, artistic director and first conductor of the Folclor Folk Music Orchestra of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic, People’s Artist, for outstanding achievements in the promotion of the folklore treasure and development of the national music field;   

Anastasia Nichita, international sports master in women’s free-style wrestling, for sports performances and international promotion of Moldova’s image;   

Tudor Cîrlan, Merited Coach of Moldova in free-style wrestling, for exceptional contribution to the promotion of Olympic values;   

Maria Șleahtițchi, writer, PhD in philology, university lecturer, for the poems included in the two volumes;   

Vitalie Ciobanu, writer, journalist, editor-in-chief of the Contrafort magazine, for the prose volume Zilele după Oreste (The Days after Oreste);     

The staff of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre Public Institution for prodigious and valuable work nationally and internationally.  

Each year, the governments awards up to ten National Prizes for outstanding achievements, which substantially enriched the science, technologies, culture, art and sport, contributed to the promotion of the country’s positive image internationally and which had a considerable impact on the technical, scientific, social and economic progress, as well as on the culture sector.
