Moldovan president has bilateral meetings in Paris

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/- On 10 -11 November President Maia Sandu was in Paris, and participated in Peace Forum, an annual event, organized under the auspices of French President Emmanuel Macron, which brings together leaders of states, governments, entrepreneurs from different domains and activists from around the world in a format of discussions on global issues, the presidential press service has reported.

Maia Sandu attended the opening ceremony of the Peace Forum, along with President Macron, the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, and other heads of state and government. In the panel on women's leadership, the head of state discussed the issue of gender equality and the issues facing women in politics. "Despite the changes for the better in this regard in Moldova, there is still much to be done to reduce social and economic inequities in our country," said Maia Sandu.

During the visit, Maia Sandu had several bilateral meetings. The head of state met with President of Estonia Alar Karis, and discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations in digital transformation: e-services, e-commerce and digitalization of the public sector. "I thanked President Karis for the support provided by Estonia to our country in the e-transformation process and invited him to visit the Republic of Moldova," the head of state said. At a meeting with Icelandic President Guðni Jóhannesson, counterparts discussed expanding bilateral trade cooperation between countries and in the context of Moldova's cooperation with EFTA states.

At the end of the visit, Maia Sandu participated in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. "In my speech, I expressed my appreciation for the Organization's achievements over time in promoting education, science and intercultural dialogue. Moldova shares UNESCO's humanistic values ​​and will continue to work with this organization to promote innovation, digitalization, education and the safeguarding of our cultural heritage, "said Maia Sandu.
