France reaffirmed support for reform agenda proposed by Moldovan authorities

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/- Visiting Paris, the head of diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, had a meeting with Clément Beaune, Secretary of State for European Affairs of the Ministry of Europe and European Affairs of France. Officials discussed the European agenda and the preparation of the Eastern Partnership Summit due to be held in December, the MAEIE press service has reported.

"For the preparation of this summit, I will participate on Monday, in Brussels, in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership states. Also, in the context of France holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1, 2022, I expressed my hope to sign the agreement on the liberalization of roaming tariffs with the Eastern Partnership for the benefit of our citizens, "said Minister Nicu Popescu.

Cooperation with the French Development Agency was appreciated, through which concrete projects for the modernization of the Republic of Moldova are proposed for implementation: electrical interconnections and energy efficiency, irrigation and reforestation, water supply and sewerage systems.

French partners will continue to share experience and good practice in cybersecurity, eradication of high-level corruption, justice reform, public sector transparency and other areas.

The officials also exchanged views on regional and international news.

At the same time, Nicu Popescu said "at the meeting between President Maia Sandu and French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, France reaffirmed support for the reform agenda proposed by the authorities, strengthening the rule of law, fighting corruption and consolidating democracy, beneficial transformations in the European course and necessary for the implementation of the Association Agreement and the free trade area between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union".
