Romanian sculptor exhibits works in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - The National Art Museum of Moldova, in partnership with the Ilfov County Council, Piscu School (Romania) and the mayoralty of the Tiganesti village, central Straseni district, today inaugurated a personal exhibition of sculpture and engraving by a fine artist from Romania, Virgil Scripcariu.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the aforementioned museum, Tudor Zbarnea, said the exhibition comprised 27 works – 14 sculpture and 13 engraving ones, made by the author in the last years.   

Virgil Scripcariu was born in Vatra Dornei, Romania, in 1974. According to specialists in the field, he is one of the most distinct sculptors of his generation. Scripcariu studied sculpture at the National Arts University from Bucharest during 1998-2003. In 2004, he was finalist of the great prize Prometheus Opera Prima and in 2008 he exhibited at the architecture biennial from Venice, where he contributed to the concept and structure of Romania’s Pavilion.    

His sculptures –important public forum works – are presented in Romania in Bucharest, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, and in Sevilla, Spain. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Romania and also exhibited his works in Belgium, Israel, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom.   

The exhibition will be open till 9 January 2022.
