Moldovan government to increase compensations provided for heating

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers will amend the state budget, in order to increase the compensations for heating. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita made statements to this effect at a news conference today.   

According to the PM, the compensation for centralized heating will be increased from 450 to about 800 lei.

„We have monitored the situation in the energy sector and looked for solutions to increase the support we provide to the people. Now, we ruled to start amendments to the legislation and the budget, which are to allow increasing the backing provided by the cabinet to the consumers of heating. We increase the compensated volume from the invoice for thermal agent. In November and December, we compensated 67 per cent of the tariff’s growth and as of January, the percentage will grow to 80 per cent. Besides, we increased the volume covered by the compensation. In November and December, we compensated one Gcal, while now we will compensate 1.5 Gcal. These two measures made the sum increase from 450 lei to 815 lei per month,’’ the prime minister said.    

Natalia Gavrilita noted that more than 20,000 low-income families, which were not able to access the new compensations, would also benefit from the latter.
